Apple plans to redesign iPad into an ARM based hybrid device

By

In a recent meeting with Citigroup analyst, Richard Gardner, Apple CEO, Tim Cook, suggested that the company would continue to use Intel chips in their MacBook Air range and they could be redesigning the iPad.

Citigroup analyst, Richard Gardner, published a research note in which he mentioned Apple’s interest in redesigning iPad into an ARM based hybrid device. Gardner mentioned:

We have wondered whether Apple might offer an ARM-based version of MacBook Air at some point; we walked away from this meeting with the impression that Apple feels iPad satisfies – or will soon satisfy – the needs of those who might have been interested in such a product,

No details were announced regarding the company’s upcoming products. There is possibility that Apple could offer tablet-laptop based hybrid breed similar to Transformer Prime by Asus. The report also mentioned that Apple was not looking forward to offer any-budget smart-phones to its users and to continue with its’ premium price tags. Gardner explained it saying:

Peter Oppenheimer [Apple chief financial officer] suggested that the company would continue to focus on producing ‘great products’ in the belief that consumers are willing to pay a little more for them… We did not get the impression that Apple feels a burning need to move down-market in smart-phones, but rather that the company believes consumer preference will continue to gravitate toward the more capable devices that Apple currently produces.
