Apple makes Retina screenshot submission compulsory for developers
ByAn official notification has been passed to the members of iOS Developer program by Apple in which they are requested to fulfill the requirement of submitting screenshots for iPod touch and iPhone apps which meet Retina resolution requirement. The requirement comes in at 960 x 640.
The requirement is valid for both existing apps, as well as, new ones through updates. Once you have created or updated your app in iTunes connect, high resolution screen shots will be uploaded with Retina display support. High resolution image requirements are: 960 x 640, 960 x 600, 640 x 960, or 640 x 920 pixels. Images must support at least 72dpi, RGB color and must meet the following supported formats only: .jpeg, .jpg, .tif, .tiff, or .png. Screenshots can be updated any time in iTunes Connect.
iPad 3 is expecting to hit markets soon and will be carrying a higher resolution display compared to its early predecessors. iPad 3 will double resolution to 2048 x 1536 increasing the quality and pixel ratio. The requirement of making retina screenshots compulsory points to the fact that Apple is getting ready to take there gadget displays to the next level.
