RIM announces to bring competition with BlackBerry 10 and PlayBook OS in 2012
ByOwing to incidents which involved BlackBerry’s server outage and the never ending war between Android and Apple escalated after the launch of iPhone 4S, RIM’s last year performance was far below expectations. This Monday, RIM announced a come back in the competing world of gadgets with a bang.
Research in Motion (RIM’s) new chief executive, Mr Thorsten Heins, made an announcement on Monday in Amsterdam at developer’s conference announced that it is planning to bring competition to the market with its’ new OS. Heins announced his confidence in their new OS for the Tablet-end (PlayBook) and smartphone-end, quoting:
We are ready to compete, make no mistake….upgrades to PlayBook 2.0 and our vision for Blackberry 10 reflect our commitment to get it right.
PlayBook OS 2.0 will arrive in stores this month. We think that RIM’s success will not only lie in its OS features, but also in building up their developer end and gadget pricing revision especially for Tablets.Heins response to his company’s interest in developer end was:
Developers are critical to our long term success
Heins also mentioned that the company had funded to give away 25,000 PlayBooks to their developer community. In the end, Heins further mentioned that RIM’s Blackberry 10 OS will hit stores later this year and will be used in cars, homes and smartphones! He also underlined the company’s 1 billion mobile user target for users who have yet not upgraded to a smartphone especially users of Asia, Middle East and Europe.
